Be guided by specially trained ski instructors

With Club Med’s all-inclusive packages, learning to ski or snowboard just got easier. Slide on your ski suit and follow the instructions of the experienced professionals from the ESF (French Ski School) and other national ski schools at Club Med's European Resorts. In Japan and China, our ski instructors are trained by the ESF, while in Canada they are trained by the Canadian national ski school.

Where can I learn to ski?

From the summits of the Alps to Hokkaido in Japan, from Manchuria to the Laurentides, more than 20 Club Med Resorts around the world are waiting to welcome you to the most beautiful ski areas across Europe, North America, and Asia. Guided by an instructor, you'll enjoy ski-in/ski-out access and select Resorts and priority access to the ski lifts. Less time waiting in line and more time on the slopes!

Which class is right for my child?

From the age of 3, children can join Petit Club Med®** and be introduced to skiing by instructors. At 4 years of age, kids can start to take lessons with instructors from the national ski school. The lessons are designed to provide the fundamentals of skiing in a fun and safe environment. Once they’ve completed their course, they'll be awarded their first medal.

After the age of 5, if your child is a beginner and can already slide and do a snowplow stop, they'll receive a "Snowflake."

Next come the "Stars", depending on their level. The aim of the 1st Star* course is to teach kids how to keep their skis parallel when turning. At the 2nd Star* level, it's time to tackle the blue runs. For the 3rd Star,* your child can control their balance and speed while skiing down the slope.

*Depending on the country, there may be equivalents to the various levels taught by ESF.
**At extra cost and only at select Club Med Resorts.

Kids ski levels with ESF

Once your registration is confirmed (in person or online before you arrive), we'll organize the week according to the skill level of each G.M®

If you've selected a week-long stay, your child's first lesson session will be held on Monday morning. They'll start by skiing a few hundred feet so the instructor can assess their level and put them in the right class. This is designed to ensure they are surrounded by other children of the same level, allowing them to feel more comfortable and motivated than ever.

Which kids ski level lessons to choose?

  • Birdie: Your child is under 5 years of age
  • Teddy Bear: Your child is 5 years or older but has never skied
  • Snowflake: Your child can slide and do a snowplow stop
  • 1st Star: They're still learning snowplow techniques but can get their skis parallel between each turn
  • 2nd Star: They're starting to make parallel turns on blue runs
  • 3rd Star: They can parallel ski and maintain their balance at high speeds
  • Bronze Star: They can parallel ski and do a hockey stop at high speeds
  • Gold Star: They can do several small turns in a row, all while controlling their speed. They can jump when skiing over bumps
  • Freestyle Competition: They're starting to excel at giant slalom. They can change their pace and the radius of their turns with improved mastery over their skis
